Thundering Ovation did all the work, but Lexis D J got all the marbles in Thursday’s $11,000 Preferred 2 for trotters at Flamboro Downs.
Bob McClure worked out a two-hole trip for Lexis D J, who stalked tempo-setting Thundering Ovation through intervals of :28.3, :59.4 and 1:28.2. McClure took a shot at the front-stepping favourite in the late stage of the mile, and Lexis D J’s :29.4 kicker was good enough to earn him the one-length decision over Thundering Ovation in 1:58.2. Hldontghttoyurdrms circled from last to finish third.
Shane Arsenault of Freelton, Ontario trains and owns the eight-year-old son of Amigo Hall-Lexus Lulu. The gelding won for the third time this season and for the 34th time in his career. He’s quickly closing in on $400,000 in lifetime earnings.
