Susan Karrel's seven-year-old homebred Dreams Matter made his seasonal debut a winning one in the featured $1,225 Winners Over Pace at Truro Raceway on Sunday

afternoon.

With trainer-driver Danny Romo in the bike, Dreams Matter got away third in the seven-horse field with two early breakers, but was shuffled back to fifth when the outer flow started to advance.

The popular King Of Kingstons (Darren Crowe), winner of the top class at the start of the month, was first up with Maritimer (Henry Smallwood) following his cover and took over control from the co-favoured St Lads Dagwood (Ernest Laffin) by the third quarter mark.

Maritimer was right by his side as they entered the stretch, but Dreams Matter was just getting into gear. Romo fired the Matter Of Money gelding home to edge out Maritimer, who gained the slight upper hand from King Of Kingtons. The winning time was 1:59.1.

Dreams Matter notched his 21st career win and bumped his earnings to $32,243. He returned $9.60 to his backers as the 7-2 fourth choice.
