A pair of O'Brien Award-winning pacers locked up during Mohawk Racetrack's Thursday morning qualifying session at the Campbellville, Ont. oval, which saw 10 dashes and one North America Cup eligible go behind the gate

The stars wasted no time at all getting out on the track, as 2009 O'Brien Award winner Dreamfair Eternal was making her first charted mile of the 2010 campaign for trainer Marvin Waite and driver Randy Waples in the opening race.

The first dash of the day would be no walk in the park, though, as 2007 O'Brien Award winner A And Gs Confusion was also competing in what was her second qualifying performance of the season for trainer Casie Coleman and driver Mark MacDonald.

A And Gs Confusion left from Post 4 in the dash and got away third before the :28.4 opening quarter. The duo moved to the front in the second panel and went on to cut the middle fractions in :58.1 and 1:25.3. A And Gs Confusion was on top by four lengths at the three quarters call and went on to win by six and a quarter lengths. The win time was 1:53.3.

Waples and Dreamfair Eternal left from Post 5 and sat fifth past the top of the lane. The duo finished more than eight lengths back in fourth and paced their mile in 1:55.2.

After having found no luck in the recently-concluded Youthful Pacing Series at Woodbine Racetrack, three-year-old Art Major colt Triple Major put in his second consecutive qualifying effort in Race 4.

In rein to driver Chris Christoforou, the Bill Companion-trained colt left from Post 2 and sat third through the opening quarter (:30) and half (:59). Christoforou had Triple Major out and pacing on the final turn and was one and three-quarter lengths off the lead at the 1:28.2 third quarter. The colt would go on to flourish in the lane and pace to a three and three-quarter-length victory in 1:56.4.

Triple Major has been assessed at odds of 80-1 in Trot Magazine's 2010 Pepsi North America Cup Spring Book.
