Austin Sorrie came into the Monday, April 21 card at The Raceway at Western Fair District on the verge of a major milestone, and it didn’t take long to get there.

The 25-year-old reinsman surpassed $10 million in career earnings, needing just two of his three wins on the night to hit the mark.

Sorrie’s first victory came in Race 4 with Lookproud ($3.90) for trainer Mark MacQuarrie. He then hit the milestone in his next drive in Race 8, guiding Captainofrocknroll ($7.80) to a 1:55.2 victory for trainer Rachel Andrew, pushing his total earnings to $10,000,388.

He wasn’t done yet. In Race 9, Sorrie struck again, steering Better Than Never ($4.60) to a win for trainer Francis Guillemette.

By the end of the night, Sorrie had boosted his lifetime earnings to $10,003,563, with 121 wins so far this season and 1,160 wins in total.

Sorrie, who began driving in 2018, notched his 1,000th career win on Nov. 25. He was honoured with the O’Brien Award for Future Star in 2020 and is coming off a career-best season in 2024, when he recorded 258 wins and topped the standings at Georgian Downs. Now off to a hot start in 2025, Sorrie currently leads all drivers in Canada for wins and looks to keep the momentum rolling.
