Team MacDonald had a strong Sunday, April 21 showing at Flamboro Downs, with Ron MacDonald training three winners on the 10-race card, all driven to victory by his son Brett.

The MacDonald duo got off to a quick start, teaming up with Lady All Star to take the $8,800 opener for conditioned trotters. Leaving from post three in the field of seven, Brett MacDonald was ill-content to sit the pocket and found himself parked to a :29.1 opening quarter on the outside of Sollwitt and Anthony Haughan. Lady All Star cleared on the second turn before cruising unchallenged on the lead through middle fractions of 1:00 and 1:29.3. The 6-5 favourite looked the part in the lane, trotting out to a three-length lead on the wire to win in 1:59 over Sollwitt.

The victory was the third consecutive on the season in her 14th outing this season for Lady All Star. Owned by Triple S Equine, the four-year-old daughter of My MVP-Lady Tini is now a seven-time winner for her career, banking $42,697 lifetime.

The MacDonalds completed the sweep of the early double, scoring with American Frontier in $20,000 claiming company. Starting from post five, American Frontier patiently worked his way to the lead through a hot opening quarter of :27.2. MacDonald slowed the tempo down to the half in :57 before mashing the gas pedal to three-quarters in 1:24.4. American Frontier conquered convincingly in the lane, scoring by 3-1/2 lengths over King Jewels and Travis Cullen in 1:54.4.

Sent off as the 6-5 favourite, American Frontier notched his first victory of 2024 through nine starts. Owned by Luc Loyer, the career three-time winning son of Somebeachsomewhere-Precious Beauty sports lifetime earnings of $56,222.

The MacDonald duo completed their triple on the evening in the seventh race with St Lads Flirt against $8,000 claimers. Brett MacDonald utilized the rail position to take command early with the 3-1 second choice through a first quarter of :27.2. Leading to the half in :56.4, Dreamy Fella and Nello Guglielmi were the first to engage the leader first-up at three-quarters in 1:25.3. Turning for home 1-3/4 lengths clear, St Lads Flirt extended his lead under MacDonald urging in the lane to score by 2-1/2 over Dreamy Fella in 1:54.3.
