Oakrock Almighty Stars In CDP Preferred

Live harness racing returned to Charlottetown Driving Park on Saturday with Oakrock Almighty stealing the spotlight with a last-to-first winning effort in the featured $2,200 Preferred Pace

Six-year-old Rambaran gelding Oakrock Almighty ($7.40), driven by Ron Matheson, trailed the six-horse field early on after starting from his assigned outside post position, but followed the cover of Unstoppable Speed and Corey MacPherson before blasting by that duo for the 1:57.3 quarter-length score. Blue Star Outlaw and Jason Hughes finished third.

Jackie Matheson trains Oakrock Almighty, who has hit the board in all five of his 2012 starts (two wins), for owners Jack Keenan of Stratford of P.E.I. and C. Joseph Dahl of Burlington, Ont. The former Ontario competitor notched his 17th career win and pushed his earnings to $58,511.
