Almost 24 hours of rain cleared away just in time for live racing to resume on Saturday evening, April 21, after a week off at The Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park
.
With the track rated as 'good' under clearing skies and a temperature hovering near 80 degrees, the program's top event was the Isle Mile 1 for an $8,000 purse. Favourite Talk To Tony, with Wally Hennessey in tow, was involved in a first quarter scrap for the lead with Flexjet, partnered by Bruce Ranger, in :27 seconds. Paul Holzman trains Ricks Sign, a seven-year-old gelding by Life Sign-Lasting Flower K, for owner Andrew Sassen of Hillsboro Beach, Florida. It was the second win in 12 starts this year for Ricks Sign and his 34th career win to increase the pacer's lifetime bankroll to more than $207,000.
