It has been reported that an Ontario Liberal MPP is scheduled to meet with Premier Kathleen Wynne this week in order to help gain a little stability for the Ontario horse racing industry going forward.
The CBC has reported that Windsor-West Liberal MPP Teresa Piruzza will be discussing the Lakeshore Horse Raceway group's business plan for a new track in Essex County and its push to obtain stranded purse funds from the now-defunct Windsor Raceway.
"Part of my role as a member in this area is to continue to advocate for them as well to see what we can do," Piruzza was quoted as saying.
In regard to the Liberals, Ontario Racing Commission Veterinarian Race Supervisor Dr. Paul Branton, who is also part of the Lakeshore group, was quoted as saying, "They're focusing on our situation. We just want to know our options and we need them to help us fast track things."
