After going home empty-handed for three straight starts at Woodbine Racetrack, Anderlecht took his show on the road to Kawartha Downs on Monday looking to take advantage of some much-needed class relief
. And boy did he ever take advantage of the softer spot.
With James MacDonald at the lines of a very live catch-drive, Anderlecht sprinted to the lead and sliced out splits of :27.1, :56.1 and 1:23.4 before using a :28.3 kicker to win by four lengths over Amazon Art in 1:52.2. Third prize in the six-horse skirmish went to Fleet Sensation.
Sent off as the 1-2 favourite, the Igor Vrablic-trained Anderlecht won for the second time this season for the partnership of the Black Road Stable of Cambridge and Point Zero Seven of Burlington, Ont. The seven-year-old son of Cams Card Shark-Princess Chablis, who is now a 23-time winner to date, has banked more than $654,000.
