Southwind Bourbon scorched the back half in :56.3 en route to victory in Wednesday’s (April 19) $12,500 second leg of the Ruby Cook Memorial for three-year-old filly pacers at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
Southwind Bourbon finished second in her seasonal debut in last week’s opening leg. She was tighter on Wednesday, however, even after she was looped from the gate before she could make the point. The daughter of Sweet Lou-Lil Miss Bourbon dug in for Mike Wilder and held off the rallying Kiss Of A Rockstar by a neck in 1:55, matching her career best. Play For Me earned show.
It was one of four wins for Wilder on the 12-race card. Dan Altmeyer trains Southwind Bourbon for Diamond Club Racing, Tar Heel Racing and David Wills.
Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday when the 12-race program features a $1,834.30 carryover in the Early Pentafecta (race 4). First post is 12:45 p.m.
