The betting public was all over Moosette in Monday’s $10,000 Fillies and Mares Open at Fraser Downs, and the Jim Marino trainee didn’t disappoint her backers.
Sent off as the 1-5 favourite in the five-mare affair, Moosette got away last for driver Brandon Campbell. He was in no hurry with the distaffer who watched Hotpieceoface roll the field through fractions of :27.2, :57 and 1:26.
Campbell had his charge first-over on the way to the three-quarter pole, and after advancing to be second she then used a :29 closing quarter to prevail by three-quarters of a length over In High Cotton in 1:55. Hottieonthehorizon took home the show dough.
Shale Stables of Merritt, BC own the five-year-old daughter of Hes Watching-Legal Suspensory who now boasts a 2022 record of 3-5-0 from 10 appearances. She’s stashed away close to $30,000 this season and more than $110,000 to date.
