The 45th annual awards of the Woodstock and District Trotting Association took place on Saturday night in Woodstock, Ontario.
Organizers and Association Executive Members, including President David Lawrence and Treasurer Ken Mogk, again ensured the Woodstock CAW Hall was sold out with a capacity crowd of over 200 attending and track announcer Frank Salive handling emcee duties.
The crowd observed a moment of silence for missing Woodstock eight-year old Tory Stafford. Prominent owner Doug Millard also requested a moment of silence for his late friend and prominent breeder George Hempt which was observed.

Owner/breeder lifetime achievement award:
Presented to Jean and Jim Caddey for the 'Greystone' horses, now numbering over 100 dating to the 1970's. Presented in person by Standardbred Canada's President/CEO Ted Smith.

Live racing in 2009 at Woodstock Raceway begins on May 16. A highlight of the year will be the Saturday, July 11 program when the Mildred Williams Women's Driving Series returns with a major fundraiser planned for a second straight year in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation organized by Louise Jamieson, Colleen Belore, and Doreen Dustin.
