Drop Red kicked off his 2009 campaign for trainer Robert Horowitz with an impressive, off-the-pace score in a $15,000 conditioned pace at The Meadowlands
on Friday evening.
The three-year-old son of Red River Hanover, who has been rated at odds of 65-1 in Trot Magazine's 2009 Pepsi North America Cup Spring Book, kicked off cover at the head of the lane for driver George Brennan and used a :27.1 final frame to stop the clock in a career-best clocking of 1:51.1.
Drop Red racked up a 4-2-1 record during his nine-race, rookie campaign for Horowitz and partner Randolph Perry of Nikomis, FL. The pacer banked just over $61,000 last season, which more than paid for his $14,000 Harrisburg Yearling Sale price tag.
