Reports from Northern Ontario indicate that a meeting set for Saturday could bring the 2014 harness racing season at Sudbury Downs one step closer to reality.
According to an article by Northern Life, track officials will be meeting with harness racing participants on Saturday. Specific details of the meeting were not discussed, but Sudbury Downs Director Andrew MacIsaac did confirm that the meeting would focus on racing at the half-mile track for 2014.
Saturday's meeting comes after Downs reps met with Ontario Horse Racing's John Snobelen as well as John Wilkinson on Monday.
“It's a followup to the meeting on Monday with John Snobelen and John Wilkinson,” MacIsaac told Northern Life.
Earlier this month, the Ontario Racing Commission proposed 32 days of racing for Sudbury. The schedule presented by Sudbury pitched opening on Saturday, May 24 and running through to October 11 with Wednesday night cards slated from June 18 through to the end of August.
