Corey Callahan recorded career driving win number 6,000 on Wednesday afternoon (April 17) at Harrah’s Philadelphia.
The milestone victory came aboard Dont Judge A Book A, who is an A Rocknroll Dance gelding that broke his maiden with the win.
Dont Judge A Book A was under the wire first in 1:56.1 and then survived the drama of an inquiry. The inquiry determined that Dont Judge A Book A made a break just after the wire, and thus the milestone victory was allowed to stand.
The 40-year-old Callahan has won over 350 races and in excess of $5 million every year since 2009. His best season came in 2015, when he was fifth in North America in victories (636) and purse earnings ($9,812,464). Career-wise, the trotters and pacers that Callahan has guided have bankrolled $86.7 million.
In the card’s $14,500 pacing feature, the 1-5 pacesetting favourite, Mach It So, was unable to hold off the late bid of pocket rocket Cruise Patrol, who went on to win by a head in 1:51.1.
