Tim T held off a host of late-closers to headline the $6,950 Winners Over Handicap Trot on Sunday night (April 17) at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

Sent off the gate from post four by driver Guy Gagnon, Tim T took control of the field from the start, leading his eight rivals through panels of :28.2, :58.4 and 1:27.4 before his first challenger, Undercover Bro, faded. While Tim T looked to be in the clear turning for home, the backfield was just beginning to come to life. In a dash to the wire, Tim T managed to hold off the rallying favourite Uncle Freddie and Ghirardelli Lindy for the 1:58 victory by a head. Rocky Boy finished one length behind in the passing lane, just ahead of outside closers What A Rush and Euro Classic.

Tim T paid $10.90 to win as the bettors' 4-1 third pick.

The win was the second in a row at Rideau for Tim T, who was claimed for $8,000 at the Ottawa oval last month and has since been racing from the Gerard Demers stable. The six-year-old Basil gelding is owned by La Ferme Tag Inc. and Les Ecuries GLD Inc.

Tim T's 17th career win pushed his bankroll over the $100,000 mark.
