Sing Like An Angel was treated to a sweet trip in Saturday’s $10,300 Open Fillies & Mares feature at Century Downs, and she didn’t let it go to waste.
Trainer/driver Travis Cullen got away second with Sing Like An Angel, while Jet Hot Stuff led the field through first-half fractions of :27.2 and :56.1. Tajmeallover made a first-over bid, and eventually worked her way to the lead at the three-quarter pole in 1:24.3. Cullen angled his charge into a clear path late and Sing Like An Angel used a :29.2 closing panel to prevail by a half-length margin over Tajmeallover in 1:54.1. Third went to Nighttraintovegas.
Cullen owns the six-year-old daughter of Bettors Delight-Place At The Table with Jodie Cullen and Keith and Margaret Hannah. It was the third win of the season – and the 43rd to date – for the career winner of $247,378.
