It has been announced that the California Harness Horsemen’s Association and Watch and Wager LLC have agreed to a 10 per cent across-the-board purse increase, which will come into effective this Saturday (April 18).
“We want to thank all our horsemen who put on a great show and made the meet successful this season," said Chris Schick, the general manager of Watch and Wager LLC. "We recognize that horsemen have plenty of options this time of year, and want to reward those that remain to meets end."
It was also announced that Watch and Wager LLC has recently exercised two option years with Cal Expo, and that current plans call for the fall meeting to begin in late October.
The trotters and pacers are in action at Cal Expo on Saturday and Sunday nights, with first-race post time for Saturdays now changing to 6:55 p.m. The Sunday race cards will get underway at 5 p.m. Closing night of the current meeting is Sunday, May 3.
