Forward Returns From Injury

After having his ankle mangled in an accident early this year at Flamboro Downs, driver Brad Forward has been cleared to return to the sulky.

Forward suffered a broken ankle with torn ligaments in the 11th race accident on January 16 after he was tossed from the sulky when his mount collided with another that had fallen.

“My ankle is doing well,” Forward told Trot Insider this past weekend. “I got cleared for the 17th [of April] so now I can't wait to get back in the thick of things. I’m really looking forward to it, I’m feeling great and can't wait to be back.”

Forward, a winner of more than 4,000 races and $24 million in purses, remains driven to win despite having picked up the ill-fated catch-drive aboard the ironically named Justalittleluck following a late driver change that day.

“That's part of the game,” he said. “I’m just praying that things go a lot smoother.”

The Newfoundland native, who now calls Cambridge, Ont. home, is looking forward to driving at Flamboro Downs, Western Fair District and possibly Rideau Carlton Raceway when he returns to action.
