Blinded By Delight visited The Raceway at the Western Fair District for the first time on Tuesday, March 14, and she stamped her authority in the $12,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred Handicap Pace with a gate-to-wire victory.
Tyer Borth had the seven-year-old firing out of post five and put her on the front early in a :28.2 opening fraction. Delta Sunrise (David Kelly) moved first-over coming off the second turn and gained on the leader through :58.2 and 1:26.3 middle panels but was unable to sustain her bid into the stretch. With that rival dispatched, Blinded By Delight pulled away from pocket-sitter Fated Fire (Robert Doyle) down the lane to prevail by 2-3/4 lengths in 1:55.2. Fated Fire finished second, followed by Swift Talker (Austin Sorrie).
Blinded By Delight snagged her second win of the year in 14 starts while dropping down from the mid-level conditions at Woodbine Mohawk Park. The Blair Burgess trainee made her first appearance at London in her 77th career start and raised her tally to 16 wins and $189,085 in earnings. Ken Seastrom of Wilton, Calif. Owns and bred the daughter of Bettors Delight-Ladys Art. Win bets returned $4.90.
