Driver Jonathan Drury sent Physicallyinclined to the front and withstood first-over pressure from Maroma Beach to win the $34,000 Preferred Handicap at Woodbine Mohawk Park by a head in 1:49.3 on Saturday, April 13.
The seven-year-old Mach Three stallion cleared command with little challenge through a :26.3 opening quarter. Still uncontested to a :54.2 half, Physicallyinclined faced his lone challenge past a 1:22.1 third quarter as Maroma Beach popped pocket to pounce on the leader. The two had a neck separating them into the stretch as they ground towards the wire. Physicallyinclined had enough to keep Maroma Beach at bay while favourite Traceur Hanover chased from third.
Owned by Robert Watson, Armando Cappuccitti, Mike Bartram and Auciello Stables, Physicallyinclined won his first race from 13 starts this season and his 18th from 84 overall, earning $567,000. Jonathan Drury drove the $5.60 winner for trainer Carmen Auciello.
