After having recently had his track left off gaming expansion legislation in the state of Minnesota, Running Aces Harness Park General Manager Robert Farinella has
gone on the record as saying, "you can't have a law that creates benefits for just one licensed entity."
His comments come after legislation filed last week only included a push for 2,500 slot machines at Canterbury Park and not Running Aces.
Former state senator Dick Day, the now-president of 'Racino Now,' went on the record last week as saying, "we (Racino Now) pushed them (Running Aces) out." Day was cited as saying that Running Aces was not part of the formation of Racino Now and that the track did not provide any start-up funding for the pro-VLT-at-racetrack group.
"We (Running Aces) believe that without us as part of the package, the optimum tax value to the state will not be realized," the startribune.com article quoted Farinella as saying.
