Risenshine Seaside surged near the wire to win his stretch duel with Liteningonthebeach... and Saturday’s (April 13) $26,301 Open Handicap Pace at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
The 3-5 favourite, Risenshine Seaside was content to stalk Liteningonthebeach from the pocket. When Ronnie Wrenn Jr. asked him for pace at the top of the lane, the five-year-old Downbytheseaside-Vivid Shine gelding had just enough to edge Liteningonthebeach by half a length in 1:51.2. Whitecookie was a ground-saving third.
Ron Burke trains Risenshine Seaside, who boosted his career earnings to $323,362, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Phillip Collura.
Hunter Myers piloted three winners on the 12-race card.
Live harness racing at The Meadows resumes on Wednesday when the program features a $381.90 carryover in the Lucky7 (Race 3). First post is 12:45 p.m.
