Jackie Greene trainee Hudson Phil returned to Saratoga Casino Hotel and rushed to a 1:50.4 victory in the $15,000 Open Pace on Saturday, April 13.
Sent the 1-5 favourite, the four-year-old son of Shanghai Phil took the lead early and paced the first half in :56. With the slow opening, Hudson Phil accelerated on the second circuit to pace a :54.4 back half while downing Nitro Glistening and Carolina Beach.
Driven by Jay Randall, Hudson Phil led an exacta and triple on Saturday that paid $18.40 and $56.00, respectively.
