Blazing Home N scored his third Winners Over/Open Handicap Pace victory of the year at Saratoga Casino Hotel on Saturday, April 11.
Despite being a beaten favourite in the Open in his previous two starts, Blazing Home N was once again heavily backed by the betting public in the $22,917 feature and went off at odds of 1-5 with his owner/trainer Larry Stalbaum in the sulky. Belmont Royale N (Aaron Byron), the runner-up in last week’s Open, cut fast first-half fractions of :27.3 and :56.1. Blazing Home N dropped into the pocket nearing the quarter and remained there through three-quarters in 1:24.4 while Favorable Draw (Shawn Gray) attacked the pacesetter around the last turn. The favourite rewarded the public faith as he surged up the passing lane in the stretch to get the better of a game Belmont Royale N by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:53.2. Belmont Royale N held on for second over Favorable Draw. The winning clocking is only bested locally in 2026 by Blazing Home N’s stablemate, Rocknroll Runa A, who won the Open in 1:53 in late February.
Blazing Home N, a seven-year-old son of Rock N Roll Heaven-Capture My Heart, has recorded five victories from 11 starts in 2026 and is 25-for-81 lifetime. He paid $2.42 to win. Stalbaum trainees have now won five installments of the Open Pace this year between Rocknroll Runa A and Blazing Home N.
