Tagmaster's Streak Reaches Double Digits

Nine-year-old trotter Tagmaster ran his win streak into the double digits on Friday afternoon with a wire-to-wire romp in the 11th race at Flamboro Downs.

The Tagliabue gelding's 10th consecutive victory also marked a special milestone in his career as he visited the winner's circle for the 50th time.

Driver J.R. Plante sent the 6-5 favourite to the lead from post six and cruised through fractions of :29, 1:00, and 1:29.3 en route to a 2:00.2 triumph over the track rated 'good.' Excellence and All Cantab followed over two lengths behind in second and third.

Tagmaster began his win streak in early February and is now 10-for-13 on the year with over $40,000 banked in purses. Patrick Shepherd has trained the veteran trotter for his last three wins after being claimed on March 16 for $12,000 by Jonah Moase of Cornwall, P.E.I.

Tagmaster nows ranks third in North America for wins this year behind Haroun Hanover and Tracys Song, who are tied for the top spot with 11 wins each.
