Terry Lantz of Rideau Carleton Raceway has received an update on the status of horseman Phil LaFramboise, who was transported to an Ottawa hospital last night after being involved in a multi-horse accident
.
The accident occurred in Race 3. Laframboise was driving Kakafala in the race. The duo collided with Milliondollarjen (driven by Stephane Gendron), who went on a break during a first-over move. As a result, Blissfull Boogie (Yves Filion) couldn’t avoid running into Kakafala. Laframboise and Filion were both ejected from their bikes.
In an update last night, Lantz conveyed that Laframboise had been transported by ambulance to an Ottawa hospital, and that he was in a neck brace and on a backboard, but was moving his arms and legs.
"I have learned that Phil LaFramboise is listed in intensive care at the Ottawa General Hospital as result of the nasty five-horse spill in last nights third race at Rideau Carleton Raceway," Lantz said today via release. "His son, Rodney, is reporting that he has suffered a concussion, four or five broken ribs, and has had 30 staples inserted in his head to close a number of severe cuts after his helmet came off as the result of one of the other horses literally landing on his head.
"As of now, he will be spending five or six days in hospital. Rideau Carleton Raceway and everyone in the racing community here would like to wish Phil a speedy recovery."
Please join Standardbred Canada in offering Laframboise and all the other drivers and horses a quick and speedy recovery.
