After an unstressed four-year-old debut one week ago, 2024 O'Brien Award finalist Paquet prevailed in his second test of the season during the session of qualifiers on Friday, April 11 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
With regular pilot Jody Jamieson at the controls, Paquet easily crossed over from his post four starting spot to take the early lead over his three morning competitors. Navigating a track listed as 'good' with a two-second variant applied, Paquet powered through panels of :29.4, 1:00.3 and 1:30.1 before uncorking a :27.1 final quarter to best pocket-sitting Mars Hill (Doug McNair) by nearly two lengths in a time of 1:57.2.
Paquet (Muscle Mass - Darjeeling) posted a solid 4-1-2 summary from eight starts during his three-year-old season for trainer and-co-owner Carl Jamieson, who co-owns with the Estate of Brian Paquet, Doug Good and 1140545 Ontario Ltd. The 2024 Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final champ sports a mark of 1:53.1 and a bankroll exceeding $344,000.
