While 38-year-old reinsman Scott Coulter has been a force to be reckoned with on Ontario’s “B” tracks in recent years, the London native who moved to Brantford
more than 20 years ago is hoping to make the transition to the WEG circuit a successful one in the near future.
Coulter, who recorded 334 wins earning over $2.3 million in 2008, took home Flamboro Downs’ track titles for wins and money earned last year and he currently sits fourth in the nation’s standings for wins this year with 94 triumphs on track.
“It's been a very slow crawl but the last five or six years have been good," Coulter told the Brantford Expositor. "I think you learn to drive better when you drive better horses."
“As far as going down there, you have to have a stable behind you with a few numbers to keep you rolling, keep you on the track. It's all about support,” says Coulter, who has spent most of his time this year driving at Georgian Downs and Flamboro.
"I've spent a little more time at the bigger track (Woodbine) this year already and I hope to keep going in that direction."
