Blue Ivy continued to dominate Open company on Saturday (April 1) at MGM Northfield, scoring her 50th win when taking the $19,000 Filly and Mare Open Pace.
Blue Ivy was hustled off the wings, clearing the lead into the backstretch, but she had to brace for immediate pressure Kat as the talented field headed to the quarter. Getting to the quarter in :27, Kat was able to clear Blue Ivy into the far turn for the first time.
Blue Ivy wasn't content to sit in the pocket, so driver Aaron Merriman sent her to the outside and cleared past the half in :56.1. Moving into the backstretch, Blue Ivy kicked clear by three-quarters, with no challengers at three-quarters in 1:24.
Smothastenesewisky moved around Kat heading into the final turn but had nothing left for the daughter of world champion Captaintreacherous as Blue Ivy won under wraps by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:52.3.
The victory pushed Blue Ivy to $750,610 in career earnings for owner-trainer Renee Bercury.
Live racing resumes on Sunday evening (April 2) at 6 p.m. (EDT). MGM Northfield Park currently races on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
