It was déjà vu all over again for Dragin The Wagon as he front-stepped to an impressive triumph against Preferred foes for the second consecutive week at Flamboro Downs.
With Anthony Haughan in the sulky, Dragin The Wagon successfully jumped up to the $11,000 Preferred 2 class Thursday evening at Canada’s fastest half-mile oval. Haughan hustled the Jeff Byron trainee to the lead and carved out panels of :28.1, :58.1 and 1:27.2 before using a :31-second kicker to win by a neck over Call Me Richard in 1:58.2. Thundering Ovation rounded out the Triactor ticket.
The victory improved the gelding’s 2016 record to 2-4-0 from 10 tries, while the six-year-old son of Angus Hall-Bridgeannika saw his seasonal bankroll climb to $18,880. The homebred, who lifted his lifetime cash stash to $155,271 with the win, is owned by the Cantelons – James, David and Michael.
