Belle Boyd turned in a brilliant performance in Monday’s second leg of the Blossom Series at Woodbine Racetrack, and in doing so she’s in position for the series sweep for Team Jamieson.

The three-year-old daughter of Art Major-Yankee Luck, who went 1-for-11 in her rookie season, is now a perfect 3-for-3 this season thanks to a 1:54 score against overnight foes in her seasonal debut followed by a narrow triumph in last week’s opening leg of the Blossom Series. She won that assignment in 1:54.4.

Belle Boyd got away fifth in Monday’s tilt while Wildcat Hanna sprinted to the lead and supplied the field with fractions of :27.3, :57 and 1:26. Belle Boyd tracked her parked-out stablemate, Senorita Santana, who had a brutal trip after making an early break getting away from the starting gate. Jamieson swung Belle Boyd three-wide coming out of the final turn before turning on the jets for the final quarter of the contest. A :27.3 kicker helped propel Belle Boyd to the two-length triumph over Wildcat Hanna in 1:54.1. Russian Kisses was third.

Sent off as the 1-2 favourite in the 11-filly affair, the Carl Jamieson trainee bumped her bankroll to $72,675 with the win. The elder Jamieson of Rockwood owns the filly with Joanne Morrison of Beeton and Tom Kyron of Toronto, ON.

Jody Jamieson also captured the $34,000 Preferred Trot with two-time O'Brien Award winner Frencfrysnvinegar in 1:55.1. The Jeff Gillis trainee shot to the lead and successfully chopped out splits of :27.2, :57 and 1:25.1 before finishing off her foes with a final quarter trotted in :30.1. Take My Picture rallied from last to grab the runner-up award while third prize went to race favourite Burnin Money.

The eight-year-old daughter of Angus Hall-Gugus won for the third time this season and for the 33rd time in her career for owner/breeder David Smith of Rockwood, ON. She went over $1.1 million in lifetime earnings with the win.
