Sunset Art In A Shocker!

Sunset Art failed to garner a cheque one week ago in Rideau Carleton Raceway’s $13,000 Preferred Pace, but he got all the marbles in Thursday’s follow-up attempt

.

With Stephane Brosseau at the controls, Sunset Art tucked into an early three-hole while One False Move and Bolero Charles sprinted to the quarter-pole in :28.1 over the sloppy oval before the latter surged to the position of command. Bolero Charles led to the mid-way point in :58.4, but Sunset Art was out and rolling as the field prepared for the backstretch. Sunset Art gained a short lead over Bolero Charles while racing parked out past the three-quarter station in 1:28, but eventually put away that foe and fended off the backfield en route to a head decision over race favourite Hoboken Hanover in 1:58.4. Told On You was third.

Sent off as the longest shot on the board in the five-horse affair, Sunset Art returned $68.10 for every $2 win ticket on his nose. The six-year-old son of Genghis Pan-Sakra Sunset hangs his harness bag in the barn of Marc Andre Simoneau, who trains the pacer for owner Francois Morin of Beauceville, QC. The 21-time winner has now put away more than $117,000 in career earnings.
