Poor track conditions have delayed the 2012 debut of harness racing's reigning Horse of the Year for the time being.

San Pail's trainer and co-owner Rod Hughes told Trot Insider on Thursday morning that he didn't want to bring back his star trotter over the off track at Mohawk Racetrack. Hughes will give San Pail a training trip this weekend and plan to qualify again next Thursday.

Hughes later told the Woodbine Entertainment Group's media department that he, “spoke with Randy (driver Randy Waples) this morning, we discussed whether it was worthwhile putting him over an 'off' track. We will get another training trip into him this week and just get him a little bit tighter and hopefully he will be ready for the next qualifier.”
