NJSEA Board Member Arrested, Charged

According to a report, Joseph Spicuzzo, described as a controversial 2009 appointee to the board of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, was arrested and charged with bribery on Monday, March 7

.

An article on northjersey.com explains that Spicuzzo's arrest and charge are in regard to allegations that in 2007 and 2008 he accepted bribes of more than $50,000 related to handing out promotions and the hiring of new investigators.

The report also states that Spicuzzo, a former New Jersey Sheriff, stepped down from his post as chairman of the Middlesex County Democratic Organization later Monday.

According to the article, Spicuzzo's controversial 2009 appointment to the NJSEA board led New Jersey Governor Chris Christie to describe him as, "probably the single most unqualified candidate for the sports authority that you can find."
