With the New Holland Pacing Series set to commence at Woodbine Mohawk Park in just over a week, Emmetts Buddy is a likely contender after his successful pair of return qualifiers.
Leaving from post six for driver Tyler Borth, Emmetts Buddy cleared Pacino Hanover (Travis Cullen) early, and handled his business through fractions of :28.2, :57.4 and 1:26.3 before pacing home in :28.1 to trip the timer in 1:54.4. Pacino Hanover stayed with Emmetts Buddy to finish just over a length back in second. Finishing third was 2024 O'Brien Award winner Taurasi, unasked by driver Doug McNair until the stretch drive.
Emmetts Buddy (In The Irons - Logicallyinclined) sports a 22-11-9 summary from his 65 career starts for breeder-owner Arthur Rey of St. Claude, Man. with a 1:49 mark and more than $344,000 in purse earnings. The Mike Kwietniowski trainee is one of 18 horses eligible to the 2025 New Holland Pacing Series, with the first leg scheduled for Mohawk next Saturday, March 15.
