Vesuvio Bi was bet off the board in Thursday’s $8,500 Preferred 3 for trotters at Flamboro Downs, and the gelding didn’t disappoint his army of pari-mutuel supporters.

Travis Henry got away fourth with the 1-5 favourite who watched Bred For Greatness fire to the front and speed through fractions of :28.4, :58.3 and 1:27.3. Henry came first-over going to the three-quarter pole with Vesuvio Bi, who then used a :29.3 closing quarter to win by 3-1/4 lengths over Bred For Greatness in 1:57.1. Fork took home third prize.

Martin Lachance trains the five-year-old son of Manofmanymissions-Palm Beach for Lachance Racing Stable of Millstone Twp, NJ and Dan Mogridge of Hillsdale, Ont. The win improves this year’s record to 1-3-0 from five tries and the 13-time winner upped his bankroll to $117,786 in the process.
