With a win in her second leg division of the Princess of the Pacific tonight at Fraser Downs, Lickcreek Jazzy has set herself up to complete a series sweep for Canada’s leading trainer Ed Hensley

.

Rossridge Tristar (Barry Treen) and Lil Miss Nyalation (Scott Knight) battled for the top spot to the :27.1 opening quarter while Lickcreek Jazzy got away fifth. Lil Miss Nyalation won the duel clearing in front of the grandstand and took the field to the half in :56.1, where Second Fancy (Serge Masse) moved first up from third with Red Star Hottie (James Burke) following her cover.

Second Fancy came within a neck of the leader, but Lil Miss Nyalation shook off that challenger past three-quarters in 1:24.1.

As the field rounded the final turn, Lickcreek Jazzy followed Red Star Hottie wide before tipping four-deep and unleashing her closing kick. The 3-5 favourite charged home in :28.4 beating Red Star Hottie by a neck in 1:53.4. Adorable Killean (David Hudon) came on for third.

Lickcreek Jazzy paid $3.30 to win.

Hensley guided the daughter of Hi Ho Silverheels-Lick Creek Rosa to her third consecutive win and fourth in seven seasonal starts. With her winnings, Lickcreek Jazzy’s 2010 bankroll climbed to $28,460. Hensley co-owns the six-year-old mare with the J J J Stables of Aldergrove, BC.

Earlier on the card, Lil Kim, a runner-up in round one, scored in her second leg division with James Burke between the wheels.

Lil Kim left from Post 6 and carved out fractions of :27.1, :56.4 and 1:24.4 en route to victory in 1:53.1. The 8-5 favourite held off the pocket-sitter, Jans Rich Girl (Scott Knight), by a nose while Admired Beauty (Brandon Campbell) crossed the wire third.

Lil Kim returned $5.30 to win.

Trained by Robert Merschback for Surrey’s Mary Murphy, the seven-year-old daughter of Little Steven-Denali Dot Com has won half of her six starts this year and has yet to finish out of the money. The lion’s share of the $10,000 purse pushes her seasonal earnings to $23,240. Lil Kim placed in last year’s Princess of the Pacific final and won the 2008 edition.

The top nine money earners will advance to the $75,000 Princess of the Pacific final, scheduled for next Saturday, March 13.
