Thundering Ovation rebounded in the $11,000 Preferred 2 Handicap Trot on Friday night at The Raceway at the Western Fair District as she went back to her familiar front-stepping style of racing.

After failing to hit the board for the first time in her 2015 campaign last week, the daughter of Thunder Road went straight to the top from post five in the Friday feature and was determined to be the leading lady in a field full of horses and geldings.

Driven by Paul MacKenzie, Thundering Ovation carved out fractions of :29.2, 1:00.2 and 1:29 while putting away first over Money Maven (Daniel O'Brian) en route to a 1:59.1 victory over the "good" track. Money Maven dropped into the pocket around the final turn and followed the winning mare down the stretch over one length behind. Jetcrest (Scott Young) finished four lengths back in third.

Trained by Gerald Sloan and owned by Joanne and Courtney Sloan, the six-year-old mare now has four wins and two second-place finishes in seven starts this year, good for $27,568 in purse earnings. Lifetime, she has accumulated 27 wins and a bankroll of $257,333.

Thundering Ovation paid $9.50 to win as the 7-2 second choice in the field of seven.
