It's not everyday that a trotting event is the fastest race on the card, but Kashs Caviar made it happen on Thursday at Flamboro Downs.
In Thursday's $7,000 Preferred 3 Trot, driver Trevor Henry sent Kashs Caviar right to the front from his rail spot and it was game, set, match. Through fractions of :28.3, 57.3 and 1:26, a four-plus length lead heading into the stretch widened to more than 10 by the wire. The time of the mile was 1:55.3, just one tick off the fastest mile by an aged trotter in North America this year.
Craig Yates trains Kashs Caviar (SJs Caviar - Ocala Cash) and co-owns with Marilyn Horner of Aurora, Ont. The seven-year-old notched his 20th lifetime win and bumped his lifetime bankroll to more than $423,000.
