Chinnys Wings came flying home from the backfield to record his second straight victory in the featured $15,500 Preferred Handicap Trot at Western Fair Raceway on Tuesday providing horseman Doug Bowins with his 500th training win.

After hanging on for a wire-to-wire score last week, Chinnys Wings took the opposite approach to his Preferred assignment this week. Driven by trainer and co-owner Doug Bowins, the seven-year-old trotter trailed the eight-horse field early on, but swept three-wide around the final turn and came charging home in :29.1 to score by three-quarters of a length in 1:58.4. Chinnys Wings bested the closing Lexis D J (Ross Battin) and pacesetter Dashing Earl (Trevor Henry), who had put fractions of :28, :59.1, and 1:28.2.

Chinnys Wings paid $6.30 to win as the 2-1 favourite. Bowins and Donald Brinkman of East Coulee, Alta. co-own the Armbro Ricochet-I Quiver Not gelding, who has two wins, two seconds and one third on his eight-race record so far this year with $26,650 earned. Lifetime, Chinnys Wings has won 33 times while earning $277,522.
