Race favourite Adkins Hanover did all the work in Sunday’s $6,800 feature at Rideau Carleton Raceway, but the pocket-sitting Crafty Master got all the glory thanks to his deep stretch heroics.
With Louis Philippe Roy at the controls, Crafty Master tracked Adkins Hanover through fractions of :27.1, :56.1 and 1:24.4 before popping off the pylons and sprinting home in :28.3. That was good enough to earn Crafty Master the win by 1-3/4 lengths over Genesee in 1:53.3. Adkins Hanover faded to finish third.
Macy Cassell trains the six-year-old son of Mister Big-Cam Odie for Keith Cassell of Smiths Falls, Ont. The victory was the second of the season – and the 10th to date – for the career winner of $255,292.
