China Fame, a five-year-old Fame N Fortune gelding out of the Final Score mare China Score, won the $10,000 Open Trot in 2:03.1 for owners Prestige Racing LLC, of Twinsburg, Ohio at Buffalo Raceway Friday night
. It was the second win this season for China Fame.
China Fame ($20.40) leaving from Post 2, and driven by reinsman Tom Agosti, made every pole a winning one setting all the fractions in the race, :31, 1:01.4, and 1:32.3. A :30.3 last quarter-mile put the winner three-quarters of a length ahead of second-place finisher Duke Of Wellington (Ken Holliday) at the finish line. Credit Press (John Cummings, Jr.) came in third.
Trained by D J Millner, the $5,000 share of the winning purse put China Fame’s season bankroll at $9,500 and $83,939 lifetime.
In the co-feature $10,000 Filly and Mares Open Pace, Hidden Touch (John Cummings, Jr.) took the lead just past the quarter-pole and never looked back, as the eight-year-old Cambest mare won by a neck over second-place finisher Pembroke Primo (Jim McNeight) in 2:01.4 over a sloppy track for owner Claude Bourgeois of Ballston Spa, New York. Dappers Flash (Jamie Dunlap) came in third.
Trained by Megan Wilson, it was the second win this year for Hidden Touch, who paid $14.80 to win.
