On Friday night, Lil Bit Lil Bit edged out pacesetter Brusiers Brother by a little bit for a 14-1 upset in Woodbine Racetrack's $20,000 opening leg of the Apaches Fame Pacing Series for three-year-old Ontario sired colts and geldings

who are non-winners of $30,000 lifetime as of October 31, 2009.

Overcoming the outside Post 9, Brusiers Brother (Mike Saftic) took possession of the lead early on and carved out panels of :28, :57 and 1:25.2 with Post 8 starter Lil Bit Lil Bit and Luc Ouellette following a couple lengths behind. In the stretch, Lil Bit Lil Bit launched his late attack and was able to nail the leader at the wire in 1:54.1. There was a gap of four lengths back to the 25-1 Big Bay Point (Phil Hudon).

Lil Bit Lil Bit returned $30.80 to win.

The son of Rambaran-Little Bit Famous, an $800 purchase at the 2008 Fall Mixed Yearling Sale, is trained by Andrew Deleersnyder for owner Steven Deleersnyder of Windsor, Ont. With three wins and three thirds in six starts, Lil Bit Lit Bit has banked $20,760 so far in 2010. The victory was his fifth overall and bumped his earnings to $45,080.

Later on the card, the classy Four Starzz Meliss and driver Jason Brewer clicked for a mild upset in the $44,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace.

Outsider Windsong Filou (Randy Waples) crossed over in front of Four Starzz Meliss reaching the first quarter mark in :26.3. Next, Ladycino (Jody Jamieson) advanced from third and took over before Four Starzz Meliss surged ahead at the half in :55.

Windsong Filou, last week’s upset winner, moved back out and laid on the pressure en route to the third quarter station in 1:23.3. She was only able to reach the leader's saddle pad though as Four Starzz Meliss opened up a couple lengths on the field in the stretch to secure the 1:51.4 victory. The odds-on To Helen Back (Mike Saftic) closed well for second while Ladycino completed the triactor.

Four Starzz Meliss, a nine-year-old daughter of Cambest-Tappy Belle, paid $12.60 to win as the 5-1 fourth choice.

The Glenn Lalonde pupil is now two-for-nine in 2010 with $53,780 earned for owners Jennifer Lalonde of Guelph and John Nother of Brampton, Ont. Her 46th career win lifts her bankroll to $889,036.
