Phone Terror and Panic At The Disco kicked off the Sunday afternoon card of harness racing at Fraser Downs with wins in their respective $7,500 Muriel Fornwald Memorial Stake eliminations for three and four-year-old fillies and mares that are B.C. owned, bred or sired

.

The lightly raced Phone Terror made her sophomore debut a winning one in the opening Fornwald division for trainer-driver Serge Masse.

Phone Terror settled into third place early on while Runaway Desirae (David Hudon) won an early battle for the lead over Cold And Heartless (Jim Marino) during the first interval. However, Masse had Phone Terror on the move early and swept to command at the :28.3 quarter pole. The filly proceeded to the half in :58.4 and three-quarters in 1:27.4 before kicking away from the field to win by five and a half lengths in 1:57.1 over the 'good' track rated two seconds slow. Cold And Heartless finished second and Theregoesmyheart (Rod Therres) advanced first over to show.

Phone Terror paid $4.20 to win as the favourite. The Western Terror-Miss Lex sophomore filly now boasts five wins and two seconds from seven career starts. Purchased for $13,000 at the 2010 Lexington Selected Sale, Phone Terror has banked $19,325 since for local owner Lucy Raymond.

Although Marino had to settle for second in the opening split, he took top honours in the following division with his own trainee, four-year-old pacing mare Panic At The Disco.

Strange Desire (Brad Watt) blasted off the gate to establish the early lead, but the popular Anjelles Aura (Scott Knight) pulled the pocket before the :28-second quarter mark and took over command off the turn. Anjelles Aura carved out middle splits of :59 and 1:28.2 while the parked out Yarhos (Darren Howald) forced the backfield attackers wide. Millbanks Ariel (Rick White) went three-deep as they neared the third quarter mark, followed by early trailer Panic At The Disco. Millbanks Ariel took over command down the stretch as the leader began to fade, but Panic At The Disco was right at her side and surged ahead to score in 1:59.1 by over three lengths. Millbanks Ariel held off Strange Desire for second. Yarhos came in fourth.

Panic At The Disco paid $14.80 as the 6-1 fourth choice. The Camystic-Companera Hanover now boasts two wins and three seconds from six seasonal starts and $12,722 in earnings for local owner Linda Auzins. The win was her seventh lifetime in 29 outings and pushed her overall earnings to $28,217.

Phone Terror and Panic At The Disco combined for an early $33.60 Daily Double.

Later on the card, Primary Purpose won his six-year-old debut in the $12,500 Open Pace.

With trainer, breeder and co-owner Rod Therres in the sulky, the 8-5 favourite left from Post 3 and cruised past fractions of :27.2, :57.2 and 1:26 en route to the 1:55.2 score. Western Nitro (David McKellar) and Stop Calling (John Hudon) rallied home off cover to place and show.

Primary Purpose paid $5.50 to win. Veikko Pajunen of Vancouver shares ownership of the Cammibest-Sing Mitzi For Me gelding. The win was No. 23 for last year's Harvest Stake champion, who is closing in on the half-million earnings mark.
