It has been reported that Thomas Wilmot, Sr., the figurehead behind the proposed Syracuse Casino and Racetrack, has narrowed the possible locations for the multi-million-dollar endeavour down to two

.

An article on syracuse.com states that both locations are within Onondaga County. The first location is an undeveloped section of an industrial area near Hancock Airport, while the other is a vacant shoreline on Onandaga Lake, located across from the New York State Fairgrounds.

“They (the New York State Racing and Wagering Board) are not going to review our application until we firm up what site we’re on,” Wilmot was quoted as saying.

The report also states that Wilmot has not yet begun to negotiate with the owners of the land he’s considering.

Jeff Gural, owner of nearby Vernon Downs, has gone on the record as saying that he is going to fight the possibility of the proposed raceway. “I am clearly going to do everything I can to make sure it never happens,” he has been quoted as saying
