Power And Grace showed she is still the dominating damsel at Buffalo Raceway for her Canadian connections as for the second time in three weeks she beat the boys in the $18,919 Open Trot on Saturday night (March 30).
In the main event, Power And Grace went immediately to the lead from the five post and collected fractions of :30.4, 1:00.2 and 1:30.2. From there, the final panel was uneventful as Power And Grace stayed on task and had little problem in holding back Jacked and Johnny Boy. Driven by Drew Monti, Power And Grace ($3.20) wired the field in 1:59.2 over the 'good' track. She held off Jacked (Joseph Chindano Jr.) by three-quarters of a length while Johnny Boy (Kevin Cummings) was third.
Owned by Hartel Maintenance of Guelph, Ont., Lormer McClure of Hanover, Ont., Brett MacDonald or Freelton, Ont., and Reg Higgs of Ilderton, Ont., nine-year-old mare Power And Grace (Holiday Road-Mark Of Honour) earned her fifth win in 10 starts this season. Trained by Ronald MacDonald of Freelton, Ont., she has bankrolled $45,125 on the campaign and $541,269 lifetime.
The final four races on the program were cancelled as the drivers refused to race.
Chindano Jr., who had five victories on Friday, posted a triple on the abbreviated card while Cummings added a pair. Samuel Smith had two training scores.
There's a 12-race program set for Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
