Barockey swept by the front-striding P L Hurricane in the stretch to cap off a Friday night training triple for Richard Moreau at Woodbine Racetrack, winning a $25,000 high-end conditioned pace for fillies and mares.
Driver Louis-Philippe Roy worked out the winning trip aboard the nine-year-old Mach Three mare, who was a $31,250 claim last month for Sylvain Descheneaux of Sorel-Tracy, Que., and Gaar Racing Stables of North York, Ont.
Barockey settled away third in the ninth race feature behind the outside leavers from posts six and seven, Exhilarated and P L Hurricane. The latter mare cleared to command into the first turn during a :26.1 opening quarter and proceeded to carve out middle splits of :55.1 and 1:23.2 while 3-5 choice Circle The Page moved first-up from fourth. Barockey edged out behind the favourite and swept up late to overtake P L Hurricane for the 1:52 victory by one and a quarter lengths. Exhilarated came through in between those two to nab the runner-up role just ahead of P L Hurricane.
Sent postward as the 4-1 third wagering choice, Barockey returned $10 to win. Circle The Page, this year's Blizzard Series champion, ended up fourth.
Barockey has won half of her 12 starts this year and now boasts 45 career wins with earnings approaching the $500,000 mark.
Reys N A Rocket ($3.20) and Every Time ($6.80) were also victorious earlier on the 10-race program for Canada's 2018 leading trainer and driver.
