This past Friday a filly was born in Ontario that boasts three Horse of the Year titles between the sire and the dam.

John Lamers told Trot Insider that Dreamfair Eternal, Canada's O'Brien Award winner for Horse of the Year in 2010, had her first foal -- a filly, sired by 2007 and 2008 Horse of the Year Somebeachsomewhere.

"Ann Straatman from Seelster Farms called me and said she had a healthy filly and that everything went well," said Lamers. "I was somewhat concerned after reading about Illusionist and the problem she had giving birth to her first foal as this is Eternal's first foal as well, but Ann reassured me things went well with the foaling."

Dreamfair Eternal was 24 days overdue when she foaled on Friday and that was clearly weighing on Lamers' mind, knowing how much a foal can grow during that time.

"I've been sending my mares to Seelster Farms the last few years as Mary and I spend the winter South. They have 24-hour watch and do a wonderful job caring for my mares."

Lamers notes that he informed Dreamfair Eternal's trainer, Pat Fletcher with the news. Fletcher was hopeful she had a filly.

"It really doesn't matter [to me], I have a really good feeling that every foal she produces will make a racehorse," said Lamers "This being a filly by Somebeachsomewhere, doesn't get any better than that."

With all of Lamers' horses named with the Dreamfair prefix, Lamers is open to suggestions from harness racing's fans as to what 8-letter suffix to give the filly.

"We can only use 18 characters, including the name Dreamfair and the space then using eight letters," said Lamers. "I have a name in mind but I am open to suggestions with a name from Dreamfair Eternal's fans. It should be fun!"

At the age of six, Dreamfair Eternal became just the third older pacing mare to be named as the O'Brien Award winner for Canada's Horse of the Year. The 2010 season was an incredible one for the daughter of Camluck who won 16 of 22 starts and over $942,000 in purses. She racked up wins in the final of the Masters Series, an elimination of the Roses Are Red Stakes, elimination and final of the Milton Stakes, the elimination and final of the Forest City Pace, and her division of the prestigious Breeders Crown. Her on-track career spanned seven years, winning 56 races, every stakes event on the older pacing mare schedule and more than $2.5 million in purses.

Last Monday, Dreamfair Eternal was announced as a nominee for the Canadian Horse Racing Hall Of Fame Class of 2014 in the Female Horse category, along with her dam J Cs Nathalie.
