Some high profile trotters resurfaced in Saturday morning's qualifiers at the Meadowlands Racetrack, including a pair of talented four-year-olds from the stable of trainer Jimmy Takter.
Guccio, who finished off his sophomore season winning the Matron at Dover Downs, blew the carbon out of his engine with a 1:53 qualifying victory over the well-known free-for-aller, Arch Madness. Jimmy Takter sent Guccio to the lead and never looked back through panels of :28.3, :57.2 and 1:26. A :27-second final quarter helped propel the son of Yankee Glide to a seven-length triumph over Arch Madness. Helios was third.
Last year’s Hambletonian runner-up has banked just over $800,000 to date for owners Christina Takter, Brixton Medical AB, John And Jim Fielding and Goren Falk.
Multiple stakes winner Little Brown Fox rallied to a 1:56.1 victory in his first qualifier of the season. The Jimmy Takter-trained son of Muscles Yankee used a :26.2 closing quarter to win by a neck over Solvato. Blacktuxwhitesocks was third.
Victories in last year’s Simcoe, Stanley Dancer Memorial and NJSS Final helped the talented campaigner push his lifetime earnings in excess of $1 million. Little Brown Fox is owned by Christina Takter, Brixton Medial AB, John And Jim Fielding and Brittany Farms.
